Maya is our New Year baby for 2024! Here is her story. She is still facing medical treatment a and is not available for adoption at this time. Clicking her photo will take you to her Amazon wish list!
I found her on the evening of 23Dec on my highway, running around with her clearly pregnant momma (who has been accepted in a foster rescue from San Antonio and is safely there for her puppies to be born and cared for!) Maya is estimated to be a 6 month old German shepherd who was severely malnourished and underweight. When I took her to the vet on the 27th Dec, she was 25 pounds, she should be at least 40 pounds based on breed/size/age she is on a slow refeeding program that was given to me from the vet. I was able to get her first round of vaccines (dhpp, leptospirosis, rabbies, and Bordetella) as well as her dewormer done. I have the vouchers from Joan to get her second/third vaccine rounds done as well as her spay! Other than being very skinny, she also has a limp to her left front paw. She had a cut on her paw when I took her in which has since healed. We’re working to get her an examination done to check into that more as well to make sure it isn’t anything worse than just the cut….. But Maya is sweet and adorable, she loves to cuddle. She’s all puppy and quite silly.
