To some dogs are just that. Dogs. Nothing special, just furry animals that have no feeling, no emotion, no reason for being on this earth. To those in rescue, they are family, they are friends, they don't protect us, we protect them.
Have you ever seen them lay their ears back and sink to the floor with that guilty look? They know. They are not just stupid animals. They are like children, they get into things and know they did wrong. If you have never seen it, you should. It is hilarious. They learn from you what is right or wrong, what is ok to do and what isn't. It requires a lot of time, energy, love and patience must be put into who they are and who you want them to be, just like children.
Have you seen one step on a sticker? Ouch! They feel that just as much as you do. How can people think they can't feel pain or fear? How is it fair to put two animals together and have them fight till the death? Would you want to be forced to fight the same way?
Have you ever wondered how they know when someone is fixing to have a seizure? They can sense things in us that aren't right. They can tell if someone is dangerous or not. They growl to give warning. Their tails are how they speak to each other and give you information about how they feel.
Dogs feel pain and emotion the same as you and I. You can see their sadness and disappointment when you leave for work and they can't go, their excitement to see you when you get home, when they step on something that hurts or when they chase something when they sleep (also funny to watch).
Please do not take part in any dog fighting. Don't provide the puppies and small dogs used as bait to be ripped apart and report any that you know of that are happening. Don't want to call the police? Call a rescue, they will handle it.
